After the cows arrived we realized that the girls needed cleaning up. So a couple of days after they had settled into their new home, we grabbed some buckets of water and a bit of soap and started scrubbing. We bathed them in the milking stall to avoid any issues of having a noncompliant participant. Tumaini and Hope certainly did not sparkle afterwards, but they did look much better!

The MILK PROJECT has been financed for 1 year. In order to maintain milk production, the cows must be bred again. My goal for this coming year is to finance the insemination, feeding and maintenance of the cows so that the children will continue to receive daily milk. Help make this a reality for these children with your financial support!

16 Liters of milk
Before the milk is given to the children, it is boiled for 30 minutes and then served in the evening after dinner. Each child receives at least one cup of warm milk! Due to the large volume of milk, Shelter is now able to cook with milk in preparing porridge and other meals. The director Mary and the staff of Shelter are incredibly pleased to be able to provide milk for all of the children and to have enough to cook with! The kids absolutely LOVE drinking milk. Unlike the milk in North America, it is surprisingly sweet.
